Overview

One of the most critical elements in the building process is the foundation. In the IT world, this foundataion is the cabling infrastructure. Many very successful companies manufacture cable and termination devices. Many companies install these components. But what is the result? Is there a “design,” a plan, and a set of instructions? How do companies protect their cabling infrastructure investment dollars? These questions have a very simple answer: consultdesign and specify. A properly designed and specified cabling infrastructure can and should “pay for itself.”

Consulting

BIGI, Inc. is dedicated to providing quality, professional and timely consulting services. Design, generation of technical specifications, project management, and administration of your cabling infrastructure will insure your expectations are met.

The difference is in our approach!

We listen first to guarantee that we provide our customers with the knowledge necessary to make the right decision for their specific business requirements. Then we ask questions. What is it that our customer wants? What is it that they need? What resources are already in place? How can we use these resources as a benefit in the future design? And finally, what are your expectations?

At BIGI, Inc. we are “listeners” first, designers second. We will offer a solution, not just answers to your questions.

Design

The designer must take historical facts, future needs, technology and facility characteristics and fit them together to create a design that is economical, relevant and future proofed. “Future-proofed” is a marketing term that, as we really know, is impossible due to the constantly changing technological environment. Certainly we try to ensure that the design of a cabling infrastructure will outlive its investment, however do not be fooled by the term “future-proofed.”

Specification

A properly designed cabling infrastructure is step one. To insure that the design is followed, specifications are required. These specifications include the ways and means of bringing the design to reality. Specifications include all critical information about the design, and therefore act as the “Instruction Manual” for your cabling infrastructure.

Specifications include:

  1. General requirements for administration documents such as insurance requirements, bonding information, deliverables and sign off (completion) requirements.
  2. Product requirements indicating what will be used to complete the design.
  3. Execution requirements indicating how the work will be accomplished.

These instructions serve to protect your investment by insuring that the cabling infrastructure was installed to current industry standards. A proper design and a specification are key to the successful installation of a network cabling infrastructure.
